Letters to the future
To the year 2035

Dear Mary,
If you are reading this letter it means you made it to 2035, and if this is not 2035, this is where you stop reading. It is the year 2021, cyber October. It's still raining in Port Harcourt as usual and sometimes I wish there is a boat to take me straight to my room, I swim walk to the house😫. Is Port Harcourt as tech-oriented as Lagos?😫
Remember those movies about time travel? Has anyone built a time machine yet? Has anyone moved to mars yet? Has anyone travelled back in time? Or is it still a fiction of our imagination or whatever it is that NASA tells us?🥱
On the 20th October of your year will be 14 years since the death of protesters at Lekki toll gate and if they have been forgotten, remind them.
What is the new stuff in cybersecurity? Has anyone been able to hack a blockchain account? If they finally did, how? What is the new trend in this industry so I can start now? 2035 shouldn't catch me unawares.😜
Did you finally name your first son rex? And made sure your daughter is a mathematician🤦♀️. What team do you officially now belong to? We have a yellow team 2021, is there a black team? How the hell did they come up with colours in this career? More colours? Tell me about it. I should have a conversation with whoever is in charge🤔.
Cybersecurity requires work and learning every day, how did you put it all together with childbearing. I'm worried. Children are unique and smarter and tend to evolve with their environment. They might understand but give them all the time they need and require. I know you love kids, then make that relationship work, they are not as difficult as you think. They want to trust you, no gaslighting🙅🏾♀️, if they confide in you, it dies with you.
With the few times, I've spent with kids I have found out they are not judge-y, don't judge them either. In as much as you want the best for them as a mother also see things from their perspective, they might be right, you never can tell. Let them grow to be in connection with their environment and not the internet, and definitely not the dark web🙅🏾♀️.
How has the world survived the pandemic that happened in 2020? Who survived, the vaccinated or unvaccinated? Apparently, we both are waiting for one side to die first and we play the "I told you so" card, this I am more interested in so I can pick the "I told you so" side early😫.
What happens if none of us dies? Vaccine in the mud😂😂. But really, is Elon musk's time machine working? If it hasn't, we need to have a conversation about messing up my head😎. Not him, whoever sold the world the idea of a time machine.
Yours Honestly😗
Mary
